Privacy Policy

Effective: 9 May 2026

This policy explains what personal information the Clip Shearing mobile and web apps collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We refer to ourselves below as “we” or “Clip”.

Who runs Clip Shearing

The Clip Portal is operated by NP Co Ltd, Auckland, New Zealand.

Questions about this policy or your data: develop@fortresspaytech.com.

What we collect

  • CLIP code — the 5-character code we issue when you subscribe. We use it to recognise you across devices and grant video access.
  • Subscriber profile — first name, last name, email address, country and city. You provide these when subscribing on the website.
  • Subscription state — the type of subscription you hold (per-event or annual), its start and expiry dates, and its payment status.
  • Playback session — while you're watching a video we record an opaque session ID so we can enforce one concurrent stream per subscriber. We don't keep this longer than needed.
  • Anonymous playback metrics — our video host, Mux, records aggregate quality-of-service metrics (buffering, errors, region) tied to a generated viewer ID. These metrics aren't tied to your name or email.
  • Device cache — on the mobile app we cache competitions, draws and results in a local database so the app works on slow networks. This cache stays on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

We do not collect:

  • your contacts, photos, calendar, or files;
  • your precise location or device advertising ID;
  • biometric data (Face ID / fingerprint never leaves your device when used to unlock the app).

How we use your information

  • Authenticate your CLIP code and decide whether to grant access to a paid video.
  • Limit playback to one device at a time so subscriptions can't be shared at scale.
  • Send you transactional email about your subscription (receipts, expiry warnings).
  • Diagnose video playback problems using aggregate Mux metrics.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

Third parties we share data with

  • Mux (San Francisco, USA) — hosts and streams the video. Receives signed playback URLs and anonymous quality metrics. Mux privacy policy.
  • Stripe (San Francisco, USA) — processes subscription payments. We never see your card details. Stripe privacy policy.
  • Microsoft Azure (data hosted in Australia East) — stores competition data, account records and email logs. Microsoft privacy statement.
  • Google Cast SDK — the mobile app uses Google's Cast SDK to discover Chromecast devices on your local network. No data leaves your network as part of discovery; once you start casting, the video URL is sent directly from your device to the Chromecast.

We don't share data with any other third parties unless we're legally required to.

How long we keep it

  • Account profile and CLIP code: while your subscription is active and for 12 months after it expires, then we anonymise the record.
  • Playback session records: deleted within 24 hours of the session ending.
  • Email logs: 12 months for support and dispute resolution.
  • On-device cache: lives until you uninstall the app or clear its storage.

Security

  • All traffic between the app and our servers is HTTPS.
  • Video URLs are signed and time-limited — sharing one with someone else won't grant them long-term access.
  • On the mobile app, your CLIP code is stored in the device's secure keystore (Android Keystore), not in plaintext.
  • Card details for subscriptions are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see, store or transmit them.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that's wrong.
  • Delete your account and associated data (this also ends any active subscription).
  • Export your data in a machine-readable form.

Email develop@fortresspaytech.com to make any of these requests. We'll respond within 30 days.

Under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 you can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Children

Clip Shearing isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle your data we'll update this page and post a notice in the app. The “Effective” date at the top tells you which version is current.
